About this role
You will keep Sequester's databases fast and available???managing replication, failover, query performance, and schema migrations without risking user data integrity.
What you will do
- Operate primary/replica topologies with automated failover and lag monitoring
- Partner with engineers on safe migration strategies (expand/contract, online DDL)
- Tune slow queries, indexes, and connection pools using production metrics
- Define backup/restore SLAs specific to relational and document stores in use
- Participate in on-call for database incidents and run blameless reviews
What we are looking for
- DBRE or senior DBA experience with MySQL/Postgres or similar at scale
- Deep knowledge of replication, locking, and transaction isolation pitfalls
- Scripting for automation (Orchestrator, pt-online-schema-change, custom tooling)
- Calm under pressure when production queries degrade
