About this role

You will solve hard scaling problems for Sequester's sync and metadata layers???designing fault-tolerant services that stay consistent when devices go offline and come back.

What you will do

• Design and implement distributed services for upload queues, metadata indexing, and conflict handling
• Evaluate consensus, partitioning, and replication strategies appropriate to privacy constraints
• Load-test subsystems and fix bottlenecks before they become user-visible outages
• Write design docs and lead reviews for cross-team API changes
• Debug production issues involving race conditions, split brain, and partial failures

What we are looking for

• Strong backend experience building distributed systems at meaningful scale
• Proficiency in at least one systems language (Go, Rust, Java, or similar)
• Solid grasp of CAP tradeoffs, idempotency, and backpressure
• Comfort reading packet captures and distributed traces???not only unit tests
